Delta, an app that lets you play classic retro games, has become incredibly popular on Apple’s App Store. Since its release just a few days ago, it has quickly climbed to the number one spot among free apps. The excitement around Delta reflects people’s love for nostalgia, bringing back memories of playing Nintendo games during their childhood.
For years, emulator apps like Delta were banned from the App Store. However, Apple recently changed its stance and started allowing retro game emulators. This shift came after changes in European regulations and the introduction of third-party app stores on the iPhone. While there are still legal concerns regarding ROMs and emulation, Apple’s decision marks a significant change in the iPhone’s gaming landscape and suggests a more open future for the platform.
How to stop crashing Games in Delta Nintendo iOS emulator
Over the weekend, I ran into a problem while trying to play a fan-translated game on the Delta emulator for Nintendo games on my iPhone. Every time I tried to play it, the whole app crashed.
To fix it, I had to delete a file in Delta. You can do this by pressing and holding the file, then selecting delete from the menu that pops up. However, when I tried this, the game preview still froze my app.
To work around this, go to Delta’s settings and find the Haptic Touch section. Turn off the ‘Context Menu Previews’ option. This stops the app from showing a preview when you press and hold on a game’s cover art. Now, you can delete the game without causing the emulator to crash.
I actually prefer having this feature turned off because I don’t need to see a demo every time I want to change a game’s skin or load a save. It makes the context menu simpler and more efficient.
